Travel to Salzburg

Please note that regular passport controls are carried out by German police at the border and on all trains departing to Germany. This may delay your travel.  Don’t forget to bring your passport!

By airplane

Several airlines fly directly to Salzburg Airport: At Salzburg Airport Bus number 2 has a direct connection both to the city center and the central station.

Trains from Vienna Airport to Salzburg depart about every 30 minutes. The trip takes about 3 hours. On some connections you will have to change trains at either Vienna Central Station or Vienna Meidling.

From Munich airport you can take the metro lines S-Bahn 1 and 8 to the Hauptbahnhof (Munich Central Station) or the Ostbahnhof (Munich East). Metro lines depart every 20 minutes, the trip takes about 45-50 minutes. From Ostbahnhof and Hauptbahnhof trains for Salzburg depart at least every hour. The trip takes 1.30 hours (express train) or 2.00 hours (local train).

Bus connections from both airports to Salzburg are also available.

By train

Regular trains depart to and from the direction of Vienna, Innsbruck, Zurich, Munich, Budapest and Zagreb.

The bus station is located directly in front of Salzburg Central Station. Buses Number 3, 5, 6 and 25 from platforms 1 and 2 will take you to the city center and to the conference venue. (ca. 10 minutes) Tickets can be bought from the vending machine on the platform, “Trafik” shops inside the central station or from the bus driver.
